I started out by sketching the layout for my car advertisement. I wanted to use compelling and cinematic images of the vehicle in order for the typography to feel harmonious with the image. I decided to go with a black and grey-toned image along with the typeface Oswald which matched the overall aesthetic. I also wanted the tagline/slogan for the advertisement to not use the same cliche and typical wordage of a Mercedes Car. Instead of using words like 'luxury' or 'brand new', I used the slogan 'More than a Label' to grab the attention of others. I also added two small paragraphs underneath describing why the C 63 Mercedes-AMG All Black Series is a car capable of outperforming other vehicles and is more than just a symbol of luxury.
The One That Got Away
The concept of this project was to redesign a project created in another class that could be revamped. I decided to redesign a car advertisement that I created in my Typography class. Advertisement posters are a foundational piece of artwork for graphic designers that showcase and communicate ideas and messages to other people. It is a way for people to recognize a particular product from a company. Advertisements are a powerful marketing strategy and I wanted to create a solid advertisement design to add to my portfolio.
